LISTENING with NKRUMAH

Hosted by Fiifi and Venus of Sound Heritage Initiative, in collaboration with Sankofa Gallery, Listening with Nkrumah is a multidisciplinary listening and exhibition experience presented in celebration of Founders’ Day.

The event reflects on the enduring influence of Kwame Nkrumah on contemporary art, culture and collective imagination. Through selected artworks by contemporary artists, the exhibition explores the theme of freedom and the ways Nkrumah’s political vision continues to inform artistic expression.

Archived newspapers and historical materials offer a tangible encounter with the past, inviting audiences to engage with material memory and consider how history is recorded, preserved and reinterpreted through contemporary creative practice.

Bringing together music, art and archival material, the session creates a space for listening, reflection and engagement with the cultural legacy of one of Ghana’s most influential leaders.
