From Sketch to Final: A Commission Walkthrough

We get asked a lot how the commission process actually works, so here is a behind-the-scenes look at a recent project. The client — a small bakery in East Legon — came to us wanting a playful illustration of their shopfront for use on packaging and merch. Step one: we did a 30-minute discovery call to understand their brand, their vibe, and their visual references. Step two: we sent back three rough pencil sketches exploring different angles and compositions. Step three: the client chose their favourite, and we refined it into a clean line drawing. Step four: we moved into colour, working through two rounds of revisions to get the palette just right. Step five: final export in every format they would need — web, print, vector, and a transparent PNG for merch. Total turnaround: three weeks. Total rounds of revision: two.
