How to Measure Yourself at Home
If you're commissioning a dress remotely, or if you just want to shop for ready-made sizes with confidence, knowing your true measurements is essential. Every cutter measures slightly differently, but the four core numbers are universal. Get these right and you'll never order the wrong size again.
## The Four Measurements You Need
- **Bust** — around the fullest part, with a relaxed bra on
- **Natural waist** — the narrowest part of your torso, usually 2 inches above the belly button
- **Full hip** — around the widest part, usually 8-9 inches below the waist
- **Length** — from the nape of your neck to where you want the hem to fall
Use a cloth tape measure, not a metal one, and have someone else take the numbers if you can — self-measuring always introduces a small error on the hip and back length. When you send us your measurements, include the exact shoes and underwear you plan to wear on the day. It changes the final fit more than people realise.
