Screen Printing vs DTG: A Comparison

When it comes to printing on t-shirts, the two dominant methods are screen printing and direct-to-garment (DTG) printing. Screen printing uses stencils and layered inks, making it incredibly durable and cost-effective for large runs of simple designs. DTG, on the other hand, prints directly onto the fabric like an inkjet printer, which allows for photographic detail and full-colour artwork with no minimum quantity. For branded merchandise of 20 or more shirts with a 2-3 colour design, screen printing is almost always the winner. For one-off designs or orders under 10 shirts, DTG is the way to go.
