Portrait Prep: What to Wear
The outfit you choose for your portrait session can make or break the final images, so we always tell clients to plan it the night before. Here are a few guidelines we have refined over years of shooting. Stick to solid colours or subtle patterns — bold stripes, logos, and busy prints distract from your face and date quickly. Choose colours that complement your skin tone, not fight it. Bring two or three options and we will help you pick the best one on the day. Avoid anything you have not worn before; a new outfit on shoot day is a recipe for discomfort, and discomfort always shows in portraits. If you are shooting with family or a group, coordinate palettes rather than matching outfits — think shades of blue and cream rather than identical shirts. Finally, comfortable shoes matter more than you think, because stiff feet lead to stiff posture. Get your outfit right and half the work is already done.
