Building a block wall for the first time can feel intimidating, but the numbers you need to order are actually straightforward once you know the rule. A standard 6-inch hollow block covers about 0.07 square metres per face, which means a 3x3 metre wall needs roughly 128 blocks plus 10% wastage for cuts and breakages. Getting this right up front saves you the trip back to the yard on pour day and keeps your site tidy.

## What You'll Actually Need to Order

- **Blocks** — your wall area in square metres times 14, then add 10% wastage

- **Cement** — 1 bag per 25 blocks at a 1:5 mortar ratio

- **Sand** — 0.05 cubic metres per bag of cement

- **Rebar** — Y12 every 3 courses if it's load-bearing

- **Binding wire** — 1 coil of 25kg ties a standard perimeter wall comfortably
